This Monday, September 20th, the doors of the newest unit with the seal Hilton Hotels & Resorts, in Portugal, open.
The Hilton Porto Gaia is a five-star hotel, located in the historic center of Vila Nova de Gaia, a few steps from the riverside area of Porto, the result of an investment of more than 40 million euros, which allowed the refurbishment of a group of old warehouses in the port wine.
In total, the Hilton Porto Gaia occupies a useful area of about 32,000 sqm, spread over 8 floors, five of which house the 194 rooms and suites with privileged views of the Douro River and the historic center of Porto.
It is with «great enthusiasm and a huge sense of responsibility that Hilton Hotels & Resorts starts its operation in the North of Portugal», says Mónica Gonçalves, general director of Hilton Porto Gaia. «We are very aware of the challenges that the current context imposes on us, but we believe that the strength of the Hilton brand will be an enormous asset for the positioning of the Porto-Gaia axis. We don't want to be a hotel focused on itself, we want to be part of a strong collective capable of competing at the highest level on the international scene, whether in leisure tourism or in attracting major events to the region”, she adds.
An important boost to business tourism in Porto and North
With a strong focus on business tourism, the Hilton Porto Gaia dedicates approximately 2,200 sqm to events and meeting rooms. From an auditorium, with a capacity for more than 300 people, to a conference room, with a total capacity for around 600 people, going on to multiple smaller meeting rooms, the Hilton Porto Gaia wants to «bring big events to Porto and North», comments Mónica Gonçalves.
In the social areas of the hotel, the restaurant stands out, whose kitchen is led by chef Hugo Portela. In addition to the bar adjacent to the restaurant, there is the panoramic bar, located on the 3rd floor. In addition, the welness center which with 1,100 sqm is more than a spa area, it is a complete health and well-being area. There is also a fitness center with gym and yoga and pilates studio.
Port wine inspires the decor of a luxury hotel
Designed by the architecture atelier ARQ 2525 and the work in charge of Casais, the Hilton Porto Gaia is «a great tribute to wine», comments designer Nini Andrade da Silva, responsible for the design of the hotel's interior spaces.
