The next generation store will be located within Plataforma Central Iberum in Illescas (Toledo), a strategic location just 35 kilometres away from Madrid, where, along with Mountpark and XPO Logistics, other important companies like Amazon, Michelin, Toyota, Airbus, Hexcel, Seur or FM Logistic are already present.
With more than 3.5 millon square metres, Plataforma Central Iberum is the first ecoindustrial park in Spain and one of the first in Europe to benefit from LIFE+ program, cofinanced by the European Comission.
Mountpark has already started the construction of the «key in hand» store for XPO Logistics, which is set to be finished by June next year.
«It is a great satisfaction for us to have XPO chose Mountpark and Illescas for the creation of this logistic platform. Together with the recent opening by Amazon on the same site, the impact this project will have for Illescas and its zone of influence is unprecedented. Besides, we can already advance that soon we will start another project in Illescas, within the same field and with double the area», comments John Derweduwe, director of Mountpark for Spain and Portugal.
«This project is only the start to the bright future Mountpark will have in Spain. The idea is to invest heavily in the South of Madrid and build a significant land reserve to meet the new needs of XXIst century’s logistics and more specifically regarding XXL warehouses», adds Derweduwe.
Real estate consultancy firm Estrada & Partners was charged with advising this operation.
