Within a market which is in full swing, the consultant developed a method which allows it to generate value from different sources such as trading terrain portfolios and carrying out greenfield energy projects or corporate operations with ongoing and operational projects. It also entails advising when it comes to boosting renewable energy parks for investment vehicles across the entire value chain of the production facilities.
In that sense, Colliers joined its real estate and financial advising experience to Sólida Energías Renovables, partner in the clean energy sector.
«We created a powerful tool for terrain transactions which allows us to identify assets within «potentially connectable terrains». We have currently identified more than 25.000 hectares, and it keeps on growing. We also advised large terrain holders about the possibility of placing portfolios dedicated to the development of energy projects on the renewables market», explained Gonzalo Martín, director of capital markets at Colliers and in charge of Renewable Energies.
In terms of corporate operations, the company applies its expertise in M&A of real estate societies to energy assets. «Until now we have been trading with companies which have ongoing projects which, are either under operation or waiting to obtain RTB (Ready to Build) or COD (Commercial Operation Date) final licenses within a maximum of two years. After a few months of activity, we noticed enormous interest from the market, proven by three transactions of future photovoltaic plants on which we invested more than 60 million euro. We are currently managing orders to develop a total potency of more than 800 MW», remarked Martín.
Finally, Colliers services also include development advising, which encompasses identifying the opportunity, requesting the connection, following the development and obtaining licenses.
