Valencian business group JJ Matriz Capital, known for its diversity of businesses in sectors such as real estate, construction, hydrocarbons, and energy, has announced its foray into the food sector with the launch of Tu Super Express. This new project will be developed in conjunction with Gasexpress automated service stations, also owned by JJ Matriz.
The initial strategy focuses on creating synergies between the two businesses, offering larger food retail areas than conventional convenience stores, which generally do not exceed 100 square metres. In addition, the possibility of exploring separate locations for future expansion is envisaged.
This initiative arises from the agreement between Tu Super Purchase and JJ Matriz Capital, where the Andalusian distribution chain will contribute its experience and knowledge of the sector, as well as the product range for the new supermarket chain operated by the Valencian group.
The first Tu Super Express shop will open in Puzol, Valencia, with an investment of two million euros. The shop, located in the village of Alfinach, will generate around ten jobs and will have 250 square metres of floor space for the shopping area. This point will also include a service station and a laundry.
As for the expansion plan for future Tu Super Express shops, they are expected to be similar in size to the Puzol store, although the product range could vary depending on the specific characteristics of each location.
JJ Matriz Capital owns several companies, including Inmoking, the Gasexpress automated petrol station network, as well as co-investment vehicles Hermes Properties, Telus, IKS, Liquids and Solar Express Energía. With a turnover exceeding €130 million in 2022 and a workforce of over 150 employees, the group has established a multi-activity investment platform that seeks to deliver returns to its various stakeholders. Gasexpress, for its part, has experienced remarkable growth since the opening of its first service station in 2014, expanding its network to nearly 50 stations in various regions of Spain.
