AEDAS Homes plans the first large development with a wooden structure in the Canary Islands

AEDAS Homes has begun the development of a new residential project in Meloneras, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), marking the first development in this area in two decades. The development will comprise 96 single-family homes with two, three and four bedrooms, private gardens and spacious interiors.

The project stands out for being the first large residential development in the Canary Islands to use a wooden structure, a material that the developer has used in other developments in Spain and which forms part of its ESG plan and sustainability strategy. According to Antonio González, AEDAS Homes' delegate in the Canary Islands, the initiative responds to an industrialised construction model with less environmental impact.

The development will have several communal areas, including swimming pools -one of them heated-, solariums, gardens, gymnasium, saunas, coworking, a multi-purpose room and a children's play area. In addition, it will be a pedestrian-only development, with a reception and video surveillance access control systems.

The location of the project is less than three kilometres from the Maspalomas dunes and less than 30 minutes from Gran Canaria Airport. The surrounding area is home to the Meloneras and Maspalomas golf courses, as well as the Port of Pasito Blanco, less than five minutes away by car.

With this development, the company is expanding its presence in the archipelago, where it has already delivered the Gazmira development (68 homes) and is currently building Singulare (32 homes), both in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In Tenerife, it is developing four additional projects: Serene in Adeje, Solum in Guía de Isora, and Carena and Carena Waves in El Médano. In total, with the incorporation of the 96 homes in this new development, the developer now has more than 500 homes in the Canary Islands.

AEDAS Homes has incorporated wood in several of its developments in Spain, including Fioresta in San Juan de Alicante, Eneida and Eneida Views in Mallorca, Avalon Delibes in Madrid, Maremma in Mallorca and Ilex in Godella (Valencia). The company has indicated that its sustainability strategy includes the use of this material within the framework of Modern Construction Methods (MMC).
