Freo has appointed Eduardo de Roda as its new CEO for Spain and Portugal, effective 1 December. The executive has more than 22 years of experience in the real estate sector, much of it linked to Patrizia, formerly Rockspring, where he held various positions for more than 15 years. Among other roles, he served as Country Manager and Head of Transactions for Iberia. Since his appointment as Country Manager in 2019, he has led the diversification and expansion of the portfolio in Spain and Portugal, which has quadrupled to over €2 billion in assets under management and more than €3 billion in transaction volume.
Prior to his time at Patrizia, De Roda held senior positions at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, Sonae Sierra and Aguirre Newman, where he began his career in 2004.
In parallel with his appointment, the company has promoted Ignacio Pareja to Managing Director of Investment and Jorge Gutiérrez to Managing Director of Asset Management. Freo Iberia currently has a team of 10 professionals between Madrid and Barcelona. Since its arrival in the country in 2015, it has carried out 16 investment transactions with an aggregate value of more than €1.25 billion and manages a portfolio valued at €700 million.
Matthias Luecker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Freo Group, emphasised that De Roda's appointment is an important step in the firm's evolution in the region and for the development of ongoing projects. The new CEO said that he is approaching this stage with the aim of advancing the business plan and consolidating the group's presence in the various market segments in Spain and Portugal.
