Panattoni closes the purchase of El Corte Inglés La Bisbal platform
Logistics platform in La Bisbal del Penedès, Tarragona

Panattoni has closed the purchase of the El Corte Inglés logistics platform in La Bisbal del Penedès, Tarragona, after having presented the best offer last October within the orderly sales process managed by BNP Paribas Real Estate.

After this sale, El Corte Inglés will concentrate its logistics activity for the northeast of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands on the platform and facilities that it already has in the Vallès Oriental de Barcelona.

Panattoni plans to build two new industrial buildings in the rest of the undeveloped plot, with an estimated leasable area of 110,000 sqm, as well as to remodel the existing 45,000 sqm building, which would make this New generation logistics park the largest one in Catalonia developed to date by a private investor for rent.

The project also allows the possibility of developing a single warehouse of 180,000 sqm of leasable area, if it is necessary to meet a demand of this type. The total investment of this project, once it is developed, is estimated at 135 million euros, approximately.

The project is located in the third logistics ring of Barcelona, right at the intersection of two of the most important roads in Spain for the transport of goods, such as the AP-7 and the AP-2, considered one of the logistics nodes most demanded by companies in the logistics sector in general, and electronic commerce in particular. The Penedés Corridor has large firms and a high demand, due to its strategic location for logistics in its different modalities.

"Our new project in the Penedés will be in a perfect location to satisfy the needs of many potential 'e-commerce' clients and logistics operators who seek to be in a strategic location from which to quickly serve the Iberian Peninsula, as well as other countries in southern Europe, and require large modern, efficient and sustainable surfaces from which to operate ”, declared Carlos Cuevas Serrano, director of Business Development at Panattoni for Spain and Portugal.

The acquisition counted with JAP Lawyers, Freshfields, Arcadis and Torrella Ingeniería who advised Panattoni on the operation.
