The Lince Hotels, the hospitality arm of the Arliz group, has acquired Villa Garden in Braga, with plans to upgrade the current four-star hotel to five stars. The group has not disclosed the investment or the expected completion date.
Housed in a 19th-century palace, Villa Garden currently has 26 rooms and a restaurant, as reported by Jornal de Negócios. The property was bought around a decade ago by businessmen João Gomes and Fernando Migaitas, who converted the former Palacete Arantes into a hotel.
Works are due to start in 2027 and aim to raise the hotel’s positioning in the Braga market. “The project involves transforming the property into a five-star hotel, strengthening the group’s commitment to excellence in hospitality and a distinctive offer, in line with guests’ changing expectations”, explained The Lince Hotels. The hotel will continue to operate in its current form until works begin.
The Lince Hotels now has six hotels. Alongside Villa Garden, it owns The Lince Santa Clara Historic Hotel in Vila do Conde, The Lince Braga, The Lince Ecorkhotel in Évora, and two hotels on São Miguel island in the Azores: The Lince Azores and The Lince Nordeste.
