Meliá Hotels International has increased its stake in the Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote resort to 53.75% after acquiring the majority stake held by Victoria Hotels & Resorts, a company promoted by Bankinter Investment with the participation of institutional investors and managed by GMA.
The transaction reinforces Meliá's strategic positioning in the high-end holiday segment, especially in island destinations such as the Canary Islands, where the company already has several establishments under its Paradisus brand. The Lanzarote resort, located in the Costa Teguise area, was the first of this brand in Europe and is currently operating as a luxury lifestyle hotel following a comprehensive renovation.
According to group sources, this purchase is part of the group's strategy of asset consolidation and selective growth in assets considered key for their tourism potential and added value. In addition, Meliá will maintain its long-term alliance with Bankinter Investment and GMA in the management of this and other shared assets for at least the next decade.
The company, which recovered its pre-pandemic financial levels in 2024, continues its roadmap with a focus on efficiency, sustainability and product differentiation. In addition to the Lanzarote resort, the chain plans to open Paradisus Fuerteventura this summer and a new branded property in Bali later this year, expanding its international footprint in the luxury resort segment.
