Ilunion Hotels has taken over the management of the Ilunion Abando, a four-star hotel situated in the centre of Bilbao. The addition increases its portfolio to 33 properties and brings the number of hotels it operates in the capital of Biscay to three, alongside Ilunion Bilbao and Ilunion San Mamés.
Located at number 9 Calle Colón de Larreátegui, opposite the Court of Justice and next to the Albia Gardens, the property is also situated alongside Calle Ledesma, one of the city’s main gastronomic hubs. Its proximity to the railway station and the Abando metro stop provides easy access to attractions such as the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Euskalduna Palace, the Arriaga Theatre, the Old Town and Azkuna Zentroa.
The hotel has 143 rooms, a bar-café, a gym, a car park and five function rooms. The transaction forms part of Ilunion Hotels’ 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, which focuses on selective growth in domestic and international urban destinations.
Beatriz Miguel, the hotel group’s managing director, pointed out that strengthening its presence in Bilbao enables the group to move towards a hospitality sector that is “accessible, inclusive and aligned” with its business model. José Ángel Preciados, the chief executive, noted that this expansion reinforces the group’s commitment to northern Spain and to Bilbao as a strategic location.
