The transaction closed at a total of 80 million euros.
Benson Elliot reached an agreement with the property owner, a investment group led by Oak Hill Advisors, at the end of last year. However, the transaction has only now been finalised, accompanied by the other member investors, explains Spanish Real Estate.
The hotel will be called Gates Hotel Diagonal Mar Barcelona, and will be run by Highgate. There are a total of 240 bedrooms over 9 floors.
The new proprietors decided not to reveal the amount of the transaction which, according to real estate sources, are likely to be about 80 million euros.
This is the second operation carried out by Benson Elliot and Walton Street which, in October 2015, acquired a portfolio with 8 hotels valued at 420 million euros, the same source recalls.
