The area occupied by technology companies in Barcelona has grown remarkably in the last few years. 2013 and 2014 were the first years where we started to see, even though only slightly, a certain demand for office terrains in Barcelona from technology companies. Two years later, in 2015, these companies doubled the terrain contracting reaching 70.000 sqm, but it wasn’t until 2017 that a clear upturn in contracting was observed, which reached 95.000 sqm. This number represented 27% of all the operations for 2017 in the city.
On the other hand, during the first nine months of 2018, 52 technology companies rented 76.825 sqm in office spaces in Barcelona, which represents more than a quarter (26%) of all the contracting in the city.
