Galería Canalejas Madrid has reached an agreement with Aire Ancient Baths Group, under which the company will manage an exclusive wellness centre, located on the lower level of Galería Canalejas Madrid, currently owned by Ohla. The project will involve an investment of €21.5 million and the creation of 100 jobs.
The new wellness facility will cover approximately 2,200 sqm and have its own entrance from Calle Alcalá. Operated by Aire Ancient Baths Group, the spa forms part of Galería Canalejas Madrid's strategy to broaden its luxury offering and attract high-end visitors.
Aire Ancient Baths currently operates centres in cities including New York, Chicago, Toronto, London and Copenhagen. The addition of the Madrid spa will expand the complex's mix of retail and wellness uses.
Karine Titli, managing director of Galería Canalejas Madrid, said that the agreement reflects the complex's ambition to evolve beyond traditional luxury retail by integrating lifestyle, services and wellbeing.
The announcement follows Ohla's acquisition of full ownership and management of Galería Canalejas Madrid in April, after reaching an agreement with Mohari Hospitality to split the assets of the Canalejas complex. Under the deal, Mohari retained ownership of the Four Seasons hotel, the Hermès retail premises and the associated car park, while Ohla took full control of the shopping gallery. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
