On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers discussed the main lines of the future State Housing Plan 2026-2030, which will have a budget of €7 billion. The Executive plans to approve the programme in the second half of December.
According to Housing Minister Isabel Rodríguez, the State will assume around 60% of the investment, while the autonomous communities will contribute the remaining 40%. The plan seeks to strengthen public housing policies through a co-financing model between administrations.
The government has specified that 40% of the resources will be allocated to the creation and expansion of public housing stock, 30% will be directed towards renovation and energy efficiency measures in buildings and neighbourhoods, and the remaining 30% will be allocated to emergency aid, including aid for young people, areas under market pressure and support for households with greater access difficulties.
The 2026-2030 State Housing Plan will set out the strategy in this area for the next five years, following on from the 2022-2025 programme, which had a budget of approximately €2.3 billion.
