The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a new loan of 300 million euros to support the construction and renovation of housing in Portugal.
The announcement was made by Nadia Calviño, President of the EIB, during the event marking the 50th anniversary of the EIB Group in Portugal, which took place at the Ministry of Finance in Lisbon. “We are stepping up our support for housing in Portugal. On Tuesday, we signed a new €300 million loan to support construction and refurbishment, aimed primarily at the private sector,” she said, as quoted by Observador.
This new funding comes on top of the two previous packages earmarked for affordable and social housing, bringing the EIB’s investment in the housing sector in Portugal over the last two years to 3,000 million euros.
