The highly anticipated Spain Real Estate Summit 2026 will return to La Finca UZalacaín in Madrid on May 5th and 6th.
Organized by Iberian Property in collaboration with CBRE and JLL, the event promises to offer key insights into Spain’s evolving role as a premier investment destination and the forces shaping its dynamic real estate market. With the institutional support of Invest in Madrid, over the course of 2 days, the region will gatheri over 350 global leaders, investors, and industry experts.
This year's keynote will be conducted by Josep Borrell, former High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, which will headline with a strategic conversation how the state of the world is set for 2026 — and what that means for Europe. Drawing on his experience at the centre of EU diplomacy during a period marked by geopolitical fragmentation, war on the European continent and intensifying US-China rivalry, Borrell will examine the implications of renewed tariffs, protectionist agendas and the restructuring of global trade flows.
Introduced by Adolfo Ramírez-Escudero, Chairman Iberia & Latam, CBRE, the conversation with Borell will also address NATO’s evolving role and the rising cost of European security. With a career spanning both Spanish and European institutions, Josep Borrell has built a reputation as one of the most experienced figures in European public life. Trained as an economist, he first rose through the ranks of Spain’s public administration during the early years of democratic consolidation, holding senior roles in fiscal policy before serving throughout the 1980s and early 1990s as Secretary of State for Finance and later as Minister in charge of key infrastructure and public works portfolios. A long-standing member of the Spanish Parliament, he combined domestic political leadership with an increasingly prominent European profile, culminating in his presidency of the European Parliament between 2004 and 2007. Following further roles in academia and diplomacy, including heading the European University Institute, he returned to frontline politics as Spain’s Foreign Minister before assuming his current position as High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, placing him at the centre of Europe’s external action during a period of significant geopolitical complexity.
With an engaging programme, the panels of the Summit will then broaden to macro fundamentals, technology impact on investment fundamentals, the role of REITS as leading investment vehicles, and the convergence of Living formats and how Europe as a whole faces common challenges. Furthermore, the Summit features interactive sessions such as "Rethinking the value of real estate", and breakout sessions to dig deeper in each asset class.
