EQT Exeter, a Swedish investment fund, has strengthened its presence in the logistics sector in Spain by leasing an 11,400 square metre warehouse in Barcelona to Viapack, according to the company. This space is part of an industrial complex located in Ódena, approximately 40 minutes by car from Barcelona, thus contributing to the expansion plan of Viapack, a logistics and distribution company with nine locations in Barcelona. With this finalized project, EQT Exeter already sums thirty logistics warehouses in Spain, totalling close to 650,000 square metres of floor space.

The warehouse in question, with a total surface area of more than 22,700 square metres, has been partially leased to GLS (Viapack Group). The leased space includes 10,469 square metres of warehouse space, 440 square metres of office space and an additional 484 square metres. The remaining half of the warehouse is still available on the market.

The industrial estate where the warehouse is located is strategically located, with easy access to major motorways such as the A-2, AP-7, C-37 and C-15, and is mainly home to logistics, distribution and manufacturing companies in sectors such as automotive, technology, pharmaceuticals and food.

Pere Morcillo, Head of Industry & Logistics at Cushman & Wakefield Spain, consultant responsible for the placing of the new tenant in the warehouse, highlighted the growth of Grup Viapack's logistics operations in the Igualada region, underlining its importance in Barcelona's logistics landscape.

In 2023, Catalonia was key in the Spanish logistics sector, concentrating 44% of the country's total investment in this area. Despite the fact that investment was 16% lower compared to 2022, a record year, the Spanish industrial and logistics sector achieved the second best historical figure with 555 million euros invested. In addition to Barcelona, cities such as Constantí (Tarragona) and La Bisbal de l'Empordà (Girona) also showed potential to attract investment.
