The company Hijos de Carlos Albo S.L. has purchased three plots that the company had previously occupied under a leasehold arrangement from Vigo Free Trade Zone, the Port Authority and the Regional Ministry of Industry of the Xunta de Galicia. With this transaction, the company consolidates its presence in a strategic location in the south of the province of Pontevedra.
The signing ceremony took place in Vigo before a notary and covers plots 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5, which have a total area of 62,979.54 sqm. These plots had been linked to the company since 2020 through a leasehold agreement with an option to purchase for a period of 30 years, renewable.
“This is excellent news because the fact that Albo has decided to exercise its purchase option is the best proof of its confidence in PLISAN (Salvaterra-As Neves Logistics and Industrial Platform). Albo is one of the major companies we have in this business park, which, moreover, acted as a magnet for other companies at the time. It is a highly innovative facility, where the company has chosen to concentrate its production, which is constantly growing, creating jobs, and which sets the standard in terms of quality, food safety and sustainability”, said David Regades, State Delegate for the Vigo Free Trade Zone.
Albo’s project at PLISAN began to take shape in 2021, when the company started construction of its plant after securing the leasehold. Two years later, in 2023, the facility became operational with the start of production and the launch of its industrial activity.
The company’s plant in PLISAN represents an investment of around €30 million and stands out for its modern and functional design. It is designed to optimise production flows, with clearly differentiated areas, enhanced hygiene controls and efficient logistics systems. Furthermore, it incorporates automation, robotics and digital process control technology, as well as its own water treatment systems. The facility has a capacity of over 100 tonnes of product per day and enables an annual production of more than 100 million cans.
