Travelodge has begun construction on a 103-room hotel in the Zona Franca of Cádiz, where it will make its debut following an agreement reached with Verbian Street Ibérica to develop the property. Once operational, the chain will expand from the 13 properties it currently manages in Spain to a network of 14.
The hotel will feature 85 double rooms, 14 family rooms and four accessible rooms, as well as a car park and an 85 Bar Café offering food and drink 24 hours a day. This mix of room types is designed to cater for tourist demand as well as business travel and stays by groups or families.
Located three minutes from Cortadura station and close to La Victoria beach and the city’s stadium, the future hotel will be connected to the main tourist, business and sporting hubs of the city of Cádiz.
Its construction coincides with the implementation of the Free Trade Zone’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which sets out 28 initiatives and a budget of €23 million earmarked for projects linked, amongst other areas, to the blue economy, Industry 4.0 and sustainability.
Among the initiatives planned for the area are Incubazul, an incubator for start-ups in the maritime and biotechnology sectors, and ZF Blue Core, which focuses on the internationalisation and digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises. The arrival of Travelodge will boost the range of accommodation on offer in this business district and expand the chain’s presence in urban destinations with both holiday and corporate demand.
