The French group Pierre & Vacances has announced its return to Fuerteventura with the addition of the Hotel Drago Park, a four-star resort located in Costa Calma, in the southern part of the island. The property has 236 rooms and 24 apartments.
The deal strengthens the French group’s presence in the Canary Islands, which the company considers a key destination due to its capacity for stable tourist activity throughout the year.
Pierre & Vacances views this acquisition as part of an expansion strategy based on selecting locations with high tourism resilience and potential for sustained growth. The company considers that the Canary Islands stand out in particular due to the absence of strong seasonality, which allows for more stable occupancy compared to other European markets that are more dependent on the summer season. With this transaction, the group aims to consolidate its position in the sun and beach segment, one of the pillars of tourism in the region.
The group’s management has indicated that the Hotel Drago Park will serve as a key hub for attracting both domestic and European tourists. Furthermore, its location in Fuerteventura allows it to attract travellers interested in family holidays, relaxation and active tourism in natural surroundings.
The Drago Park Hotel will undergo a five-year investment plan divided into two phases, aimed at its comprehensive refurbishment and gradual modernisation. The aim is to raise the standard of the hotel and update its facilities to meet the expectations of today’s international tourists. The company particularly wishes to strengthen its all-inclusive offering, a model in high demand amongst families.
Among the planned improvements, the group aims to enhance services for families, as well as the resort’s pet-friendly approach, to broaden its appeal. The idea is to enrich the guest experience beyond accommodation by incorporating complementary services and activities.
