Pestana Hotel Group has officially opened the Pestana Dunas, a new beachfront eco-resort in Porto Santo, Madeira, expanding its accommodation offering on the island.
The property, which opened on 14 August, initially features 218 rooms across five categories, ranging from Classic Eco Resort and Family Eco Resort rooms to Superior Family Eco Resort, Superior Pool View Eco Resort and Suite Eco Resort units. The accommodation is operated on an all-inclusive basis and is aimed at families, couples and longer-stay guests.
Operating under the Pestana Hotels & Resorts brand, Pestana Dunas includes a buffet restaurant and two bars, as well as direct beach access and landscaped communal areas. The resort is directly connected to the existing Pestana Porto Santo, allowing guests to move between the two properties on foot and access a broader range of shared facilities.
These include a Spa & Health Club, heated indoor swimming pools, sports courts, themed restaurants, entertainment, leisure areas and support services, creating a wider resort offer across the two hotels.
The new property has been developed with a focus on sustainability and environmental efficiency, while seeking to preserve and highlight Porto Santo’s natural heritage and landscape.
The official opening ceremony was attended by Madeira’s Regional Government President Miguel Albuquerque and Porto Santo Mayor Nuno Batista.
According to Paulo Prada, executive board member at Pestana Hotel Group, the Pestana Dunas is the result of a project that has been in development for several years and represents a new stage in the group’s long-standing presence on Porto Santo.
He said the resort had been conceived to showcase the island’s distinctive characteristics while respecting its landscape, using resources more efficiently and seeking a harmonious relationship with the territory.
