Arrow Global's Norfin Group has announced the construction of a five-star hotel with 172 rooms - the JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa, located in the Palmares Ocean Living & Golf resort in Lagos, Algarve.
Excavations for the construction began in February this year. The JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa will have 172 luxury rooms and suites, in an exclusive location between the bay of Lagos and the Alvor estuary, in symbiosis with the surrounding nature and views of the Atlantic Ocean. In the future, the project will also include 133 JW Marriott residences, totalling 305 units managed by JW Marriott.
‘This JW Marriott hotel is the brand's first in Portugal and will be the factor that will elevate the resort in Palmares, setting a new luxury benchmark for the Algarve. We have selected every detail of the hotel's design to create the perfect atmosphere, reflecting the quality of the resort's natural features and setting. Every detail has been carefully thought out to provide a sophisticated and comfortable environment,’ explains Francisco Sottomayor, CEO of the Norfin Group, adding that ’the prestigious architectural and interior design firms, RCR Arquitectes and Goddard Littlefair, have perfectly combined their respective specialities to create a unique experience for guests, establishing the resort's legacy of world-class design.’
Guests can enjoy 172 rooms - 80 Standard King, 68 Standard Doubles, 22 Suites and 2 Signature Suites. ‘The hotel is part of a narrative and a unified concept, with the aim of creating a unique place: Palmares. A place where the architecture is the landscape and the landscape is the architecture,’ says Rafael Aranda, founding partner of RCR Arquitectes.
Among the exclusive amenities, the JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa will feature a continuous service restaurant and a signature fine dining space, complemented by a poolside bar, a lounge & bar in the lobby, a wellness and fitness centre, a Family by JW kids' club, indoor and outdoor pools, meeting rooms, room and chauffeur services, as well as exclusive rooms for spa treatments.
The space will also feature the brand's signature touches, including a JW Garden, various tranquillity spaces and Family by JW experiences. In addition, all guests will have easy access to the rest of the resort, including the 27-hole golf course, future paddle tennis facilities and the Michelin-starred Al-Sud restaurant, as well as other luxury amenities.
Timothy Walton, Senior Vice President of Development in Western Europe at Marriott International, said: ‘The signing of the JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa continues to reflect the strong growth opportunities we are seeing for luxury accommodation in Portugal. We are excited to be working with the Norfin Group to bring the JW Marriott legacy of extraordinary service, thoughtful design and enriching wellness experiences to this stunning destination.’
