Mutuactivos SGIIC and Stoneweg have launched Mutuafondo Hospitality, FCR, a new venture capital fund specialising in the real estate sector with an investment target of €300 million. The fund will focus on the acquisition and management of hotel and leisure establishments linked to the tourism industry, located mainly in established destinations in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The Mutua Madrileña Group and Stoneweg will hold a direct stake in the fund’s capital. Mutuactivos SGIIC will act as the management company, taking charge of investments and risk management. For its part, Stoneweg Spain will act as an advisory firm, responsible for identifying market opportunities, structuring purchase and sale transactions, and monitoring assets throughout their lifecycle.
The investment strategy covers both existing properties and buildings requiring refurbishment or functional adaptation. In cases of refurbishment, the action plan is divided into three areas: improved management to increase revenue and reduce costs; refurbishments or upgrades to the building itself; and changes to its commercial approach, to adapt them to the new demands for personalised experiences.

Mutuactivos SGIIC, which manages over €19 billion in various assets, aims with this product to diversify its portfolio into private markets. Meanwhile, Stoneweg, based in Switzerland and with €11 billion under management, brings its operational expertise to the table, having managed hotel assets worth €1 billion over the last five years.
