The US multinational Marriott is preparing to open a four-star hotel in the city of Granada, a project representing an investment of around €35 million and which will be located next to the Forum building. The developer responsible for the project is Building Reference.
The hotel will be located at 10 José Luis Pérez Pujadas Street, in an area that in recent years has become one of the city’s main hubs of urban development. The area will also soon be home to the future City of Justice, planned for the well-known Cubo building.
The complex will have 175 rooms and is expected to generate significant economic activity both during its construction and once it becomes operational. Forecasts indicate the creation of around 150 jobs during the construction phase. Once the hotel opens, the permanent staff will consist of around 60 people.
The initiative has received significant institutional backing after the Andalusian Regional Government declared it a business investment of strategic interest to the region. This decision will allow the project to be integrated into the Project Acceleration Unit, a mechanism created by the Andalusian Government to reduce administrative delays and facilitate the launch of investments considered key to the regional economy.
The resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Regional Government of Andalusia. It states that the future hotel will operate under the Courtyard by Marriott brand, one of the group’s brands specifically geared towards city breaks and business travel.
The Regional Government considers that this project meets the criteria required to be classified as strategic, given its potential to boost the local economy and strengthen the tourism sector. In recent years, Granada has seen significant growth in its range of high-end hotels, particularly with the opening of new establishments catering to international visitors.
