MAGG Capital and Onix Capital have finalised the acquisition of a plot of land in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, to build a four-star hotel with 161 rooms. The total planned investment amounts to €30 million, as reported by Expansión.
The project comprises a 12,600-sqm building spread across two blocks of seven and four storeys. It will have a total of 161 rooms, all with private terraces. The hotel will include a restaurant, meeting rooms, a gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a sun terrace and a car park.
The project design has been entrusted to GCA Architects in collaboration with Kardham interior designers. The complex aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification.
The future hotel will be part of the Akeah brand, owned by SmartRental Group, which will take on the full management of the property.MAGG Capital and Onix Capital will share ownership of the asset on a 50-50 basis. The opening is scheduled for 2028, once construction and development of the complex have been completed. The hotel will be located very close to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, one of southern Europe’s main transport hubs.
“This project brings together three key elements for us: a strategic location, a distinctive product and a long-term vision shared with our partners”, said Borja Sánchez, director of expansion at SmartRental Group. He added that the area around Barcelona Airport “is one of the markets with the greatest potential in southern Europe”.
