Madrid's Calle de Alcalá will welcome a new 13-storey hotel
Calle Alcalá 21, Madrid

Madrid will house a new hotel, restaurant and meeting facilities in Calle Alcalá, in the Centro district, in a 13-storey building with premises and offices that is no longer in use. The Governing Board has initially approved the special urban development plan that will make the conversion of its use from residential to accommodation viable. The intervention will involve the enhancement of the building, which is affected by several heritage protection regulations.

Specifically, the urban planning process affects a building with a floor area of 11,570 square metres located at number 21 Calle Alcalá, owned by the insurance company Generali Real Estate. The building, included in the Municipal Catalogue of Protected Buildings, is located in the historic centre of the municipality, which means that it has been assigned a grade 1 level 2 protection level, which obliges the developer to safeguard architectural elements such as the façade, the doorway and the central common staircase.

Furthermore, the building is protected as it is located in the 'Conjunto Histórico Recinto de la Villa de Madrid', in the 'Zona de Amortiguamiento del Paisaje de la Luz' and in the 'Zona de Protección Arqueológica Recinto Histórico de Madrid'.

The entire building will be reconverted to house guest services, a restaurant on the first floor and a meeting room on the second floor.
