Intra Douro, a company belonging to the Azinor group, owner of the Sana Hotels brand, has taken out a green loan with BPI for €30 million, with a term of 15 years. The loan, fully organised and underwritten by BPI, is intended to support the construction of the new Evolution Gaia, a luxury hotel that will open next year in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Evolution Gaia will be a 4-star hotel with over 185 rooms, a restaurant, gym and spa, located in Vila Nova de Gaia, next to Avenida da República, just a few minutes from the D. Luís Bridge. With a privileged view over the Douro River and the historic centre of Porto, this new hotel will focus on a concept geared towards new technologies.
The building will be subject to energy certification, with the investment having strong sustainability concerns and objectives. This financing is part of BPI's Sustainable Banking strategy, highlighting the bank's commitment to solutions that incorporate sustainability principles and contribute to more responsible financial performance.
The Azinor Group is one of the largest hotel operators in Portugal through the SANA Hotels brand, currently with 17 hotels and over 2,900 rooms. The Evolution brand reflects the group's commitment to more contemporary and technologically oriented concepts for a specific audience.
