The Iberian Property Investment Awards, organised by Iberian Property, are celebrating their second edition in 2025. The winners were announced yesterday at a gala dinner in Madrid that closed the first day's agenda of the Spain Real Estate Summit, which brought together more than 300 Iberian property professionals.
An independent jury of more than 50 leading real estate professionals from Spain and Portugal, choosed the eight winners among more than 50 nominations received. Recognizing and rewarding the most outstanding players and projects in the real estate investment sector in Spain and Portugal throughout 2024, this initiative highlights the diversity and excellence of the Iberian market and underlines the importance of innovation, sustainability and corporate social responsibility in the sector.
TUTECHÔ won in two categories: "Social Impact of the Year and Financial Innovation of the Year
One of the most original and extraordinary projects on the Spanish real estate scene, the TUTECHÔ social socimi won two of the eight awards.
TUTECHÔ focuses on combating homelessness and is the brainchild of Blanca Hernández from Seville, a member of the Ebro family, one of Spain's most prestigious business families. The socimi was highlighted, as expected, in the category "Social Impact Initiative of the Year", but surprised everyone by also winning the award for "Financial Innovation of the Year".
Blanca Hernández, who is not only president of the Ebro Foundation but also founding partner and CEO of the value management company Magallanes and a director of companies such as Ebro Foods and PharmaMar, has used TUTECHÔ to acquire some of the 3.5 million empty homes in Spain, with the aim of renovating them to house the homeless in exchange for a very low rent paid by the social organisations and NGOs involved.
To date, TUTECHÔ, which is already listed on the BME Growth index, has bought properties worth almost 40 million euros in cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Cáceres, Málaga, Palencia and Seville, helping thousands of people out of homelessness. This work, which undoubtedly contributes to social progress, has not gone unnoticed by the jury of the Iberian Property Investment Awards.
Helios RE's takeover bid for Lar España, highlighted as ‘Deal of the Year in Spain’
The jury of the Iberian Property Investment Awards has also highlighted one of the most significant movements in the Spanish real estate market in recent months. The award in the "Deal of the Year in Spain" category went to Helios Real Estate, which, together with Grupo Lar, was responsible for the takeover bid for Lar España SOCIMI, which represented the largest retail transaction of the year, a portfolio of 12 retail assets valued at more than 1.3 billion (GAV).
Tikehau Capital's Antas Atrium project is the Deal of the Year in Portugal
Tikehau Capital has been awarded the 'Deal of the Year in Portugal' for its 'Antas Atrium' project, a 1,000-apartment development in Porto, a large part of which is dedicated to the Build to Rent market, making it the first institutional project of this model in the country.
Diagonal Vertical building refurbishment wins 'Green Asset Initiative of the Year' award
The award in the 'Green Asset Initiative of the Year' category went to Hines. Last year, the global real estate investment management company relaunched Diagonal Vertical, the emblematic tower in the heart of Barcelona's business district and former headquarters of Banco Sabadell.
Mutua Madrilena wins the "Commercial Leasing of the Year"
Another of Spain's most representative buildings, the Colón Towers, in the heart of Madrid, also had their place and space at the Iberian Property Investment Awards ceremony. Mutua Madrileña, owner of the emblematic building, received the award in the category "Commercial Leasing of the Year" for the extraordinary refurbishment of the Colón Towers;n of the Colón Towers, now considered to be the first near-zero consumption high-rise office building in Spain, and for the subsequent lease of the two towers, in their entirety, to the law firm Garrigues.
Initiative "50 & Beyond" by CBRE España is the Marketing Initiative of the Year
In the ‘Marketing Initiative of the Year’ section, the work of the Spanish delegation of CBRE was awarded with its initiative ‘50 & Beyond’, an original way to pay tribute to the real estate sector through the vision of 50 leaders who will project a future designed by and for people, cities and the planet.
"A New Generation Megahub" by DE-CIX awarded "Research Report of the Year
Finally, DE-CIX was awarded the best "Research Report of the Year" for its report "A New Generation Megahub", which focuses on the strategic digital node of Spain and Portugal on a global scale.
The 2025 edition of the Iberian Property Awards ended on a high note by honouring Concha Osacar and Fernando Gumuzio, the visionary founders of Azora, who in just over twenty years have transformed their company into a leading real estate investor in Europe and an essential name in the Iberian market.
