The Portuguese joint venture, created by Atena Equity Partners and 3T Portugal, dedicated to investment in healthcare, particularly in hospital assets, acquired the entire share capital of Hospital Soerad, located in Torres Vedras.
The unit is composed by two buildings, in a total of 26.500 square meters, with 3 underground parking floors and 4 floors above ground. Under the scope of the operation, the real estate asset will be owned by Horizon Equity Partners.
Besides housing three operating surgery blocks and a hundred beds, the Torre unit is also the largest centre for imaging exams in the whole Western Region. It currently has 200 employees.
The joint venture thus reinforces its investment in the hospital area with the acquisition of Hospital Soerad. It should be noted that a year ago it purchased the Hospital Particular de Almada, an investment that is also in line with the development strategy for the project, "where one of the priorities is to facilitate access to healthcare in underprivileged markets through proximity units. The acquisition of Hospital Soerad allows us to leverage structural and clinical synergies with Hospital Particular de Almada," the statement said.
The project is led by a senior executive team of managers and entrepreneurs in the private healthcare area: Eduardo Moniz (Partner at 3T Portugal and former CEO of British Hospital, IMI and CMR Sul), Luís Campanha (former CEO of Affidea) and Pedro de Albuquerque Mateus (former Luz Saúde, former CEO of Hospitais Privados da Lusíadas Saúde and current CEO of MALO CLINIC).
According to a statement, "the strategic project for the hospital unit provides for growth in new areas of activity, increasing supply and strengthening the response capacity in the provision of health care to the local population.
