The unexpected twist came immediately afterwards, when the group president for Trinitario Casanova in turn sold the property to the Riu hotel chain, who will open an establishment in the core of the building, according to sources close to the deal.
The purchase agreement between Riu and Baraka has established that the latter has charge of the commercial zone, 15,000 square metres in area, which will occupy the lower floors. The investment for repositioning is approximately 400 million euros.
This is one of the most important transactions of recent years in the Spanish real estate sector, beginning last summer, when Wanda confirmed that it was in negotiations with Baraka. A short while later, both parties reached a sale agreement, for which the Murcian group paid a deposit of 20 million euros. After this followed various periods of time and declarations, which finally crystallised into closure, in which Dalian Wanda were assisted by the consultants JLL throughout the process.
