For the third consecutive year, the contracting of offices in Barcelona in the first quarter has grown, exceeding 92,000 m2, 17% more than in the same period of the previous year.
According to Savills Aguirre Newman, transactions under 500 m2, considered the engine of the market, have reemerged with force. In fact, the agreements executed in areas of between 200 and 500 m2 have represented 50% of the total.
Among the operators, the Public Administration returns with three operations, with the particularity that two of them are the larger ones of the quarter. Among these, stands out the rental of 6,500 m2 by Land Registrars in the Free Zone.
Up to 2019, is planned the incorporation of 290,000 m2 new or renovated, of which only 60% is in the commercialization phase, since almost 120,000 m2 are committed to pre-letting contracts. Precisely, the new business areas concentrate 83% of the total of this new or renovated area and 80% of the committed spaces are located in the 22@ and the Fira zone.
