Simon Schaefer began as a designer in 1997, working for German startups with his own interactive agency. He has invested in about 50 angel- and seed-stage companies and In in 2011 he co-founded Factory, a campus model for Startups, launching the very first of Europe’s mega-campuses. After launching the world’s fist first Policy / Startup conference Startup Europe Summit with the European Commission in 2015 and 2016 the Factory team launched the next Berlin Campus "Silicon Allee” in 2017. He and his partners launched Factory Lisbon in 2018 as the anchor of Lisbon City Hall innovation district Hub Criativo do Beato.
Simon is also driving the Portuguese Initiative for Entrepreneurship Startup Portugal as President of the Association and is a member of the Atlantic Council of Allied for Startups, and is a member of the investment Committee of the 200M co-investment fund.
