Real estate must “move to a new policy and productive model”

During the Congress, in the same date of the 50th Anniversary of APCEspaña, members of the sector have discussed the opportunities presented by the current moment and the strategies that should be implemented to guarantee a more stable future far from the fluctuations of economic cycles. Thus, among the discussed topics, those related to collaborative environments and their impact in the real estate industry, the digitization of licenses or new financing formulas will be key in this new stage.

The inauguration of the Congress was attended by José María García, General Director of Housing and Renewal of the Community of Madrid and Juan Antonio Gómez-Pintado, President of APCEspaña.

During his speech, the President of the national real estate association has appealed for "Walking towards a new industrial policy, a new productive model boosting innovation, knowledge, reputation and entrepreneurship. In other words: to walk towards a new productive specialization that takes advantage of the potentialities of the productive factors".

Juan Antonio Gómez-Pintado, took the opportunity to remind the sector that "We cannot allow populist decisions to be outside the law that we must all comply with. Our democracy works and our judicial system is a basic pillar. The real estate industry will not agree with decisions that do not comply with the regulations in force." In this sense, the president of the national employers' association of promoters and builders underlined the importance of legal security for the real estate industry as one of the main challenges the sector is facing.

For his part, the Director-General of Housing and Rehabilitation of the Community of Madrid has recognized the fundamental role of the real estate industry in Spain stating that "A sector that will generate approximately 10% of the national wealth must be respected and valued by all institutions."

José María García also wanted to congratulate, during his speech, the APCEspaña for its 50th anniversary: "Today you celebrate 50 years and that is a sign of the strength of the sector. You have lived several crises but, in particular, from this last one you have come out strengthened".

During the meeting have been held a series of round tables that have addressed issues of such importance to the sector as real estate financing, the main difficulties for the residential sector nowadays, the digitization of licenses or the challenges and opportunities of national planning.

Equally, topics such as the economic prospects and the Spanish real estate sector, sustainability applied to houses, trends in the digital and collaborative scope and its impact on the real estate industry, have been developed by different experts at the national Congress of APCEspaña.
