Census from ST Appraisal Company show that in these coastal areas there are 657 units of new homes, distributed evenly along the coastline. In comparison with the southern shores of the Mediterranean, Catalan shores are the ones with lower houses offer. Costa Brava (Girona) has 279 units of new houses and Costa Dorada (Tarragona), 378 houses. From the total 5.594 units new houses along Mediterranean shores accounted by the appraisal company, 11,8% are located in Catalan coast, 657 houses.
Consuelo Villanueva de la Sierra, Director of Instituciones y Grandes Cuentas - ST Sociedad de Tasación (appraisal company), highlighted that “the lower volume of new houses offer in Brava and Dorada coasts, in comparison with the rest of Mediterranean coasts, is due to the fact that in growth period, unlike what happened in other locations, construction works took place in good locations and the demand has been absorbing houses gradually, mainly in Costa Brava”. “In general, there's optimism in second-home market in Catalonia”, concludes.
