More than 50% of visitors use the restaurant facilities when at a shopping centre

Ian Hanlon, Associate Director of JLL Foodservice Consulting discussed the main innovative trends which are developing in shopping centres in Europe and America, and recounted examples of gastronomic success and innovation in shopping centres in Spain and Andorra.

Following, Fernando Calvo, Director of Asset Services at CBRE, emphasized that a good selection of restaurants can lengthen the time that visitors spend in the centres, and can also attract customers who come just to eat. Another conclusion is that food services are becoming increasingly important in shopping centres, and growing more than the supply of entertainment facilities within the “tenant mix” composition of shopping centres.

Finally, Víctor García, Regional Director of Management at Unibail Rodamco, presented some new restaurant concepts which are being employed to boost or change the shopping centre, as is the case of El Mercat de Glòries.
