With the principal focus being investment in the rental market, KKR IMO, SA is the company vehicle which aims to become “one of the principal players in the rentals market sector for students, teachers and researchers, recently graduates and relocated professionals”. To this end, the Smart Studios™ brand was created and more than 10 million euros have been invested in the past year and a half in about 200 studios which are either in operation or in a face of renovation or building.
Under this brand, Smart Studios™ is the holder of a property in Coimbra and two totally renovated buildings in Lisbon, namely in the zone of Campolide and on the Laranjeiras road. In addition to these, and still in the Portuguese capital, a group of buildings in Ajuda is being remodelled, which includes the construction of a building from scratch.
In a statement, a KKR IMO stresses that this is “a market sector in expansion, which is demanding, and which needs new solutions appropriate for the modern, urban concept, with buildings prepared and planned right from scratch to provide both the necessary ease of use andcomfort, in strategic locations and at competitive prices”. To this end, “the supply of studios will continue to expand, with various projects in negotiation which could double the number available in a time span of two years, this being just the beginning of the journey”, they conclude.
