Backyard, this will be the name of this initiative, which intends to «rethink the concept of what is a house», announced Airbnb co-founder, Joe Gebbia, to Fast Company, quoted by Cínco Días. These sustainable houses will be conceived from scratch for Airbnb’s business model.
The Samara lab was created 2 years ago to develop and invest in new forms of urban planning and housing. Its goal is to develop a system which will adapt several types of houses, according to building and manufacturing techniques, new technologies and artificial intelligence, «meeting the long term needs of owners and tenants», explains Joe Gebbia.
Backyard’s first units should be launched during next year.
