Lisbon was the region where more hotels arose, representing almost ¼ of the total. The Oporto and North region represents 22%.
The 4-star led the typology, indicating more than half of the total openings, while the 5-star represented more than 20%. The 2-star were the least representative, with a percentage of only 2%.
The numbers are from a research by Worx, and show that this year the trend continues to grow: 50 more hotels are expected to be opened across the country, mainly in the Lisbon area, which should represent almost 50% of the total, and 21% in the north of the country.
At the end of last year, the Minister of Economy predicted the opening of 80 new hotels in 2018 and 2019.
