These hotels are spread out across 23 municipalities, which confirms the tendency for the geographical diversification of the offer observed in recent years, especially if we compare it with the 18 municipalities with new hotels under licensing in 2015.
The largest unit is located in Gaia, with more than 15.000 m². All the remaining units have less than 10.000 m², and most have less than 2.000 m². Porto is the municipality with more hotels with an area larger than 5.000 m², with a total of 3 hotels.
With these projects registered during the 1st semester, the portfolio of new hotels in the pipeline since 2015 is of 204 units, the offer has been growing at a fast pace in recent years, with the amount of projects rising to 60% in 2017 (for 80 units) against the 47% growth registered in 2016(from 34 projects in 2015 to 50 the folowing year).
